Dog Rescue

The Importance of Dog Rescue & My Journey as a Foster

Dog rescue is more than just saving lives—it’s about offering second chances, providing safety, and giving unconditional love to those who have often never known it. Every dog rescued is a life transformed, not just for them but for the families who welcome them home.

With each foster, my goal has been to provide them with not just a temporary place to stay but a home where they feel safe, loved, and prepared for their “furever” families. I train them, nurture them, and watch with joy as they choose their people—seeing that moment of connection is one of the most rewarding parts of the process. While I don’t always have the chance to stay in touch with every dog post-adoption, I do keep up with a handful, enjoying playdates and updates on their happy lives.

The Tail of Champ and Rigsby

My journey in dog fostering began in 2020 with Rigsby, my first foster and the one who quickly stole my heart. It took just four days—along with the unspoken approval of my older dog, Champ—for me to realize he was already home.

From the moment they met, Champ and Rigsby became the best of friends, an instant bond that was beautiful to witness. They learned from each other, played endlessly, and deepened my appreciation for the resilience and love that dogs bring into our lives. That experience is what kept my heart open to fostering nine more dogs over the next four years.

My work with Spot’s Last Stop Canine Rescue has been a cornerstone of my fostering journey. I continue to volunteer, provide services, and support not just them but other rescue organizations across the country. Every dog saved, every home found, and every second chance given reminds me why this work matters. They fill my heart, and they need our help.
